New York state cannabis law update

Starting Aug. 28, possessing less than 2 ounces of marijuana will be a violation in New York, much like a traffic ticket.

Under prior law, carrying more than 25 grams (a little less than an ounce) or having it in public view was a misdemeanor. (Possessing less than 25 grams was already a violation.)

This is doesn’t mean go smoke bud in a cop’s face. Be smart. But it is another big step in the right direction.
